
Commercial Tax inspector had fixed monthly bribe to allow consignments of pan masala company into Bengaluru illegally

The Bengaluru district Lokayukta officials caught a Commercial Tax inspector and his associate red-handed while allegedly taking a ₹20 lakh bribe from a Delhi-based pan masala company representative for an official favour.
On April 24, Nijanandamurthy was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act after his associate, Manoj M., was allegedly caught red-handed taking the bribe near a hotel at Nagarabhavi on behalf of the Inspector.
Based on information given by him, the Lokayukta officials arrested Nijanandamurthy, and later raided his house.
The accused, according to the Lokayukta officials, had fixed a monthly rate of bribe to allow consignments of the pan masala company based in Delhi into Bengaluru illegally.
