CNN Anchor Gets Texts From 'Trump World' On-Air Complaining About Her Reporting

Dana Bash reacted to White House criticism in real time while talking about bombshell behind-the-scenes revelations in a new Vanity Fair piece.
CNN viewers got to see anchor Dana Bash react to White House backlash in real time during Tuesday’s episode of “Inside Politics.”
Bash’s eyes flicked back and forth between her guest, CNN’s political director David Chalian, and something in her lap as they discussed the “palace intrigue” exposed in a new Vanity Fair piece based on a series of candid interviews with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
Explaining why her attention was split, Bash said, “You probably saw me looking down while you were talking because I was getting texts from people inside Trump world who say, ‘No, they’re not reeling,’ as our chyron says.”
“So, here we go. Susie Wiles is unfiltered. We’re going to be unfiltered too,” Bash continued. “And they say that that is not what’s happening. And that is an exaggeration of what’s going on inside. So, that’s out there. And we’re going to be transparent about what they’re saying right now.”
The texts from Trump’s camp were clearly intended to rebuff reports that Wiles’ uncharacteristically unvarnished quotes published by Vanity Fair had the White House in crisis mode.
