The City of Yellowknife has lifted its local fire ban.
It was put in place on July 2 due to extremely dry conditions. In a news release on Thursday afternoon, the city said it's lifted the ban "effective immediately," thanks to rain this week.
"Burning is now permitted in all approved fire pits within the City of Yellowknife," the statement said.
The city is reminding people to fully extinguish fires and practise safe fire habits.
It says a fire ban could be reinstated if there's a heightened risk again.
"[The Yellowknife Fire Department] continues to monitor fire conditions closely and will advise the public of any changes as they arise," the statement said.
