The 47-year-old model opened up about the actor’s favorite seasonal activities in the years before his diagnosis.
Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, is sharing her honest take on how hard the holidays can be when you’re dealing with a loved one facing health issues.
In a candid blog post shared on her website, the 47-year-old model detailed the grief that the holidays now bring since her husband was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
“The holidays have a way of holding up a mirror, reflecting who we’ve been, who we are, and what we imagined they would be,” Hemming Willis wrote over the weekend.
“When you’re caring for someone with dementia, that reflection can feel especially poignant. Traditions that once felt somewhat effortless require planning- lots of planning,” she said. “Moments that once brought uncomplicated joy may arrive tangled in a web of grief. I know this because I’m living it.”
Hemming Willis added that while the “holidays don’t disappear when dementia enters your life,” they do change, as Bruce was once “the center of it all.”
