Congress defends Telangana government's legal takeover of land in Kancha Gachibowli, refutes misinformation spread by Bharat Rashtra Samiti
The Congress has said the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) was trying to push lies and misinformation on the Telangana government taking over the 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli legally, and asked it to refrain from it.
In a statement here, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the University of Hyderabad was provided an alternative 400 acres of land, which the varsity accepted, thus permanently relinquishing all and any claims of the varsity over the said tract of land. “It may be noted that the Central university had acquiesced in allotment of land to the sports entity by taking alternative land in exchange,” he said.
Mr. Reddy was responding to BRS working president K T Rama Rao accusing the government of taking over the varsity land. He reminded that all the governments, including those headed by Chief Ministers K. Rosaiah, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and K. Chandrashekar Rao continued the argument in the High Court and the Supreme Court that the land belonged to the state government. He said the case was pursued rigorously by the Congress government under the direction of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the Supreme Court, which finally ruled the case in favour of the state government.
In a separate statement, Congress spokesperson Chanagani Dayakar wondered how Mr. KTR could use the word ‘Green Murder’ to describe the taking over of land legally following all the due procedures after winning the case in the Supreme Court.
He said the BRS should appreciate the government for saving 400 acres of land going to a private party and reclaiming it to use for the betterment of Telangana and attracting the IT companies. He said the BJP and BRS have conspired to defame the government.
