Boil water advisory issued for 500 southwest Calgary homes and businesses

A boil water advisory has been issued by Alberta Health Services (AHS) for approximately 500 homes and businesses located in the southwest community of Spruce Cliff, and some areas of Wildwood and Rosscarrock, effective immediately.
The City of Calgary said a water service line broke on private property on Friday morning. In the course of shutting off water to the affected property, there was a disruption to the water main supplying drinking water to the wider area, according to a news release.
The issue is not related to the Bearspaw south feeder main or the repair work being done on it, nor did it involve a break on another city water main, the release added.
While the city expects water service to be restored on Friday, AHS issued the boil-water advisory as a precautionary measure.
It anticipates the order being in place for a minimum of three days to "allow time to flush the water main and complete the necessary water quality testing. "
Residents and businesses within the affected area are advised to bring all tap water to a rolling boil for one full minute prior to any consumption, including drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, and cleaning raw food.
The city said it will be providing water wagons to the affected areas, and locations will be made available on its website.
