A bear and her cub were spotted along the edge of southwest communities Cedarbrae and Oakridge, Calgary police said Tuesday morning.
Police said the bears were seen throughout Monday night along the western edge of the neighbourhoods, near the border of the Tsuut'ina Nation.
Alberta Fish and Wildlife have been notified and are out with tranquilizers and traps, police told CBC News.
The area where the bears are believed to be has been contained, with parks and pathways being shutdown.
Specifically, police blocked off the two parking lots at South Glenmore Park.
People in the area are advised to be cautious and if they do see a bear, to keep their distance.
If residents notice a bear near their home or vehicle, they are urged to stay inside until the animal has left the area.
