Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Islamic Affairs, has published the book ‘Durrat al-Tanzīl wa Ghurrat al-Ta’wīl’ by the eminent scholar Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Khatib al-Iskafī (d. 420 AH).
This publication comes as part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to revive Islamic heritage and enrich the Islamic library with foundational works in the sciences of the Holy Qur’an.
The book has been released in three volumes, funded by the Waqf Bank for Scientific and Cultural Development to the General Directorate of Awqaf, in support of disseminating Islamic knowledge, serving researchers and students of knowledge, and strengthening the presence of specialised Qur’anic studies in the academic arena.
In this work, the author addresses one of the most important topics in the sciences of the Qur’an: verses that are similar in wording. He adopts a precise scholarly methodology in presenting these verses, dedicating in each surah an independent discussion to every verse in which he identifies verbal similarity.
He cites their counterparts from other verses, whether within the same surah or in different surahs, then explains them and clarifies the distinctions between them through an approach based on posing the question, presenting the answer, and responding to potential objections. This reflects deep scholarship and a rigorous analytical method.
