Israeli airborne raid in Lebanon results in at least 41 deaths amid escalating West Asia conflict.
Israel’s military carried out an airborne operation that dropped troops into a town in eastern Lebanon overnight, residents and Lebanese state media said on Saturday (March 7, 2026), as heavy Israeli strikes on the area left more than a dozen people dead.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least 41 people were killed and 40 wounded overnight in Nabi Chit and areas nearby.

Lebanon was plunged deeper into the conflict engulfing West Asia on Monday (March 2, 2026) when Iran-backed Hezbollah launched rockets and drones into Israel. Overnight, Israeli helicopters dropped troops near the town of Nabi Chit in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley, Lebanese state media and residents said. Residents and Hezbollah fighters fired on the troops as they moved on foot, the reports said.
The Lebanese Army said three soldiers were among those killed in the exchange of fire. It said four helicopters took part in the operation, two of which conducted the landing. It also reported that residents clashed with the Israeli force while Lebanese troops went on alert and fired light bombs.
