Windsor Regional Hospital is asking anyone recently discharged from the facility to monitor themselves for COVID-19 systems, following multiple outbreaks across several units.
In a media release issued Tuesday, hospital officials say 15 patients have tested positive for COVID-19 due to outbreak on multiple hospital floors, including:
Another two units — 7 North, Ouellette Campus and 4 Medical, Met Campus — are on "high alert" and being monitored for an outbreak, say officials.
According to the hospital, fewer than five patients in each of these units have tested positive.
The hospital said admissions to these units continues.
Due to the size of the outbreak, Windsor Regional Hospital is asking that anyone discharged from the hospital to self-monitor themselves for up to 10 days.
The hospital said they continue to take COVID-19 precautions including testing any new patients for COVID-19 whether they are symptomatic or not.
The outbreak at the hospital comes as a surge of suspected Omicron variant cases have swept the region.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 69 people are hospitalized as of Tuesday, including 16 people in intensive care.
P.E.I.'s Public Schools Branch is looking for 50 substitute bus drivers, and it'll be recruiting at three job fairs on Saturday, June 8. The job fairs are located at the Atlantic Superstore in Montague, Royalty Crossing in Charlottetown, and the bus parking lot of Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside. All three run from 9 a.m. until noon. Dave Gillis, the director of transportation and risk management for the Public Schools Branch, said the number of substitute drivers they're hiring isn't unusual. "We are always looking for more. Our drivers tend to have an older demographic," he said.
