Amir expresses happiness over Qatar-Kazakhstan growing ties

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issue joint press statement

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said that he had held expanded and constructive discussions on Wednesday with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the capital Astana on the strong relations between the two countries, and expressed his happiness over the significant and continuous growth of the bilateral relations in various fields, especially economic, trade and investment. In joint press statements with the President of Kazakhstan at the Ak Orda Presidential Palace, His Highness the Amir noted that the two sides completed the discussions held earlier on the sidelines of Qatar Economic Forum in Doha in June. His Highness  the Amir stressed the importance of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides today, most importantly the agreement on the encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments which will give strong impetus to the existing cooperation between the two countries and achieving more joint accomplishments. His Highness the Amir noted the significant role of the Qatar-Kazakh Joint Committee in continuing to explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries and strengthening the economic ties, noting that the Committee had held five sessions, the latest of which was held in 2020, and it is expected to hold its new session in the near future. His Highness noted that a Qatari delegation of several investment agencies will visit the Republic of Kazakhstan to discuss the appropriate investment opportunities in the Kazakh economy. His Highness  the Amir pointed to Kazakhstan's hosting of the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) tomorrow - in which His Highness will participate at the generous invitation of HE the Kazakh President. HH the Amir considered the summit an opportunity to meet many leaders of the region and discuss with them political, security and development issues of interest to the continent. In this context, His Highness  the Amir praised the efforts of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his presidency of the current session of the summit, wishing him success. Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir expressed his welcome to participate in the Astana Economic Forum, which will be held in June 2023. Highlighting Qatar's keenness on strengthening the relations between the two countries and the two friendly peoples, His Highness the Amir explained that Qatar Airways operates direct flights for passengers and air freight between Qatar and Kazakhstan; expressing his happiness with the increase in the number of tourists from both countries. His Highness also referred to Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 next month, and to the number of tickets booked from Kazakhstan. On this occasion, His Highness the Amir welcomed all fans from Kazakhstan to come to the State of Qatar and enjoy the matches and the atmosphere of the tournament, inviting the President to attend the tournament. His Highness the Amir concluded his statements by extending congratulations to the President, the Government and the friendly people of Kazakhstan on the occasion of the upcoming National Day of Kazakhstan. His Highness also expressed thanks and appreciation to HE President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his invitation to visit Kazakhstan and the warm reception and hospitality accorded to His Highness and the accompanying delegation during the visit which is His Highness's second to this friendly country. For his part, President Tokayev underlined that the State of Qatar carries out an important role in the region and the world, especially in politics and economy; praising the State's efforts and endeavors in achieving peace and its diplomatic efforts regionally and internationally. Tokayev looked forward to enhancing and developing the relations between the two countries in all fields; noting that the two countries will celebrate next year the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He also praised the close bilateral cooperation and the constructive political dialogue between the two countries. He referred to a number of Qatari projects in Kazakhstan, expressing his thanks to the State of Qatar for its development initiatives and projects that contribute to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and peoples.
