All 3 counties on Prince Edward Island being told to brace for severe thunderstorms
CBC
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of Prince Edward Island.
"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," the weather agency said just before 3 p.m. AT on Thursday.
The federal weather agency had earlier issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Prince County before downgrading it back to a watch. Just after 3 p.m., the Prince County status was back up to a warning.
"Lightning is always my main concern with thunderstorms, especially early in our summer season as lightning safety isn't always top of mind," said CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland. "It is always important to head indoors at the first sound of thunder.
"The risk for scattered thunderstorms risk continues through the afternoon, before diminishing early this evening, so please keep an ear to the sky."
