An airplane in Colorado safely landed itself during an in-flight emergency on Saturday using an automated system.
Two pilots aboard a small twin-engine Beechcraft Super King Air were forced to make the emergency landing after taking off from Aspen and experiencing a loss of pressurization.
But instead of piloting the plane themselves, the pilots elected to use Garmin’s Autoland system, which the company said is a first.
“This was the first use of Autoland from start-to-finish in an actual emergency,” Garmin said in a statement.
