Aaron Boone clinging to Anthony Volpe hopes as massive Yankees question looms
NY Post
Assuming good health, there are certain givens to the Yankees lineup every day.
Aaron Judge is going to play, whether it is in right field or at DH. Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, Giancarlo Stanton, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice have also essentially joined that group.
For most of the season — and his career, really — Anthony Volpe at shortstop has been another given.
And he was back there on Tuesday night for the 137th time in 144 games, despite manager Aaron Boone saying he considered starting José Caballero as Volpe’s struggles continue to mount on both sides of the ball in his third year as a big leaguer.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
