Police closed sections of the 401 and 402 Thursday morning and reported multiple collisions across highways in the region due to icy roads and blowing snow. The highways have since reopened. The Ontario Provincial Police shut down the westbound section of Highway 402 at Colonel Talbot Road after a number of vehicles went off the road during the morning rush.
The westbound 401 was also closed, between Putnam Road and Elgin Road, near Dorchester due to icy roads and collisions, police said.
"It you're in open areas in the counties, expect blowing snow. Take precautions when you're driving. Our officers are responding to one crash where a vehicle spun out," said OPP Const. Steven Duguay.
Police have not reported any injuries and have not yet announced when the roads will reopen.
Difficult driving conditions were reported in all regions outside of London. School buses in Oxford, Elgin and Middlesex counties were closed for a second day, as a result.
