Recent developments:
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 33 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday and no deaths. There have now been 324 cases reported in September, more than 11 times the number of cases reported in the same period last year (29).
The latest tally comes after 468 people were tested for the virus at the Carling Heights assessment centre. Most of the cases were among people aged 25 to 39 (10), followed by those aged 40 to 64 (nine). The MLHU says more than 65 per cent of cases reported since early August are people who were unvaccinated. Eighteen per cent are people who were partially vaccinated and nearly 17 per cent were fully vaccinated.
The health unit posted 21 recoveries on Wednesday, with 194 known active cases in the region. The rolling seven-day average of daily cases is 20.
London Health Sciences Centre says it is treating seven patients with COVID-19-related illnesses. There are five or fewer patients in adult critical care and five or fewer patients with COVID-19 in the Children's Hospital.
Five or fewer staff members at the hospital network have tested positive for the virus and are in quarantine.
There were seven additional cases of COVID-19 reported by the MLHU at two local schools:
