3,998 new Covid-19 cases, one death and 2,879 recoveries Monday in Qatar

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported Monday 3,998 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus (Covid-19) which include 3,481 among the community and 517 among travellers. The ministry also reported the death of a patient aged 71 who had a history of chronic diseases and was receiving necessary medical care. The MoPH also recorded 2,879 recoveries from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 260,896. Vaccination programme data: -5,447,278 doses have been administered since the start of the programme. -34,561 doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. -486,423 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date. -86.7% of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses. New daily cases of Covid-19 has increased during the recent weeks. The Omicron variant has been detected in Qatar, which poses a danger as new Covid cases has emerged. Evidence so far shows that Omicron is the most prevalent, even today, and that the countries in which it appears are rapidly registering infections. The MoPH has stressed the importance of qualified members of society receiving the vaccine booster dose without any delay. With Covid-19 still a health threat in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures: -Adherence to physical distancing. -Avoiding close contact with others, crowded places and confined closed spaces where others congregate. -Wearing a face mask. -Washing hands regularly. -People should take the Covid-19 vaccine at the earliest opportunity when their turn comes.
