A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, after the death of a man found in a Waterhen First Nation home, Saskatchewan RCMP say.
Officers from Meadow Lake were called to the northwestern Saskatchewan First Nation around 8:45 a.m. Friday, with a report of an injured man in a home.
They found the man seriously injured at the home, and emergency medical services later pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police said he has been identified as a 37-year-old man from Waterhen and his family has been notified, but they are not releasing his name at this time.
The RCMP’s homicide unit investigated, and 24-year-old Skye Lasas from Waterhen First Nation was arrested on Friday, RCMP said in a Saturday news release. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
He and the victim knew each other, according to RCMP.
Lasas is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake provincial court on Monday morning.
