Union Minister announces India Mobile Congress 2025 focus on 5G, 6G, AI, cybersecurity, and more, strengthening India's digital leadership.
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, that the 2025 edition of the India Mobile Congress, an annual event organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), will be held from October 8–11. The event brings together telecom operators, equipment manufacturers and government bodies showcasing their telecom advances.
The 2025 edition will focus on “innovations across 5G & 6G, AI, Semiconductors, Electronics Manufacturing, Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, Satellite communications, Deep-tech, Clean-tech, Smart Mobility, Industry 4.0 and Enterprise transformation,” the DoT and COAI announced.
India has made it a priority to get an early lead on setting standards for 6G, the next generation of telecommunications technology. One of the key concepts has been “ubiquitous connectivity,” a framework conceptualised as allowing Indian telecom users to seamlessly stay online wherever they are, across home broadband, mobile data, and even satellite data.
“As Asia’s largest technology forum, IMC will further strengthen India’s position as a global leader in digital transformation, fostering new opportunities to collaborate with global ecosystem,” Mr. Scindia said.
Apart from the IMC, India hosted the 2024 edition of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), simultaneously with the IMC at Delhi last year.

Neither the economists at the Finance Ministry, nor the economists at the Reserve Bank of India seem to be unduly perturbed by a steeply depreciating Rupee, as the domestic rate of inflation is well below the tolerable range of 2 to 6%, GDP is growing at a healthy rate of around 8% in the first two quarters of this financial year and agriculture, manufacturing and services are performing according to expectations.
