York Regional Police are asking for help identifying two suspects believed to be connected to the ongoing Ontario Provincial Police investigation into the abduction of Elnaz Hajtamiri.
According to a press release, officers visited an address on King William Crescent, near Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue, on Dec. 20, 2021 in response to a call that a female victim was attacked and struck with a frying pan in an underground parking garage.
CBC News has previously reported that Hajtamiri was attacked around the same time with the same weapon by two men who jumped her in the parking garage of her Richmond Hill condo building. Family have said Hajtamiri had reason to believe she was being watched during this time period after tracking devices were found on a car she had been leasing.
Other sources say there was a witness with Hajtamiri at the time of the attack, and one of the attackers recorded the beating on their phone.
After the December attack, she was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two male suspects fled from the scene in a vehicle.
Officers have since determined the suspect vehicle was stolen in the area between Finch Avenue and Don Mills Road in Toronto. Police report it has been recovered.
A few weeks after the December attack, Hajtamiri was forcibly taken by three men dressed in police gear, claiming to have a warrant to arrest her, on the evening of Jan. 12. She was staying at a relative's home on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach.
A Montreal man identified as her ex-boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, has since been arrested in connection to her abduction for criminal harassment on Jan. 21, and was released on bail in a matter of days. He is set to appear virtually in a Collingwood, Ont., court on Feb. 22.
Suspect #1 is described as a male between 25 to 30 years old, at 6'2 inches and of medium build. He has short brown hair and was wearing a camo puffed jacket, dark pants and a surgical mask.
Suspect #2 is described also as a male between 25 to 30 years old, at 5'10 inches and of medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket and a surgical mask at the time of the attack.
Investigators are asking anyone with information or anyone who can identify these suspects to come forward.
