Two men have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a triple shooting at Fairview Mall Monday afternoon, Toronto police say.
Officers were first called to the mall, near Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East, around 4:10 p.m.
Police say they found two 25-year old men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital — one with life-threatening injuries and the second with non-life-threatening injuries.
A third person, who was dropped off to a nearby trauma centre in a personal vehicle, was later pronounced dead. Police have since identified that victim as 21-year-old Madar Hassan of Toronto.
On Tuesday evening, police announced two arrests in connection with the shooting.
A 25-year-old Toronto man faces charges of second-degree murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.
A second 25-year-old Toronto man is charged with second-degree murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon and failing to comply with release order.
Both men attended court virtually Tuesday morning.

Municipal councils across Essex County and in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia have spent this year’s budget season trying to keep tax increases manageable while battling inflation and soaring policing costs and weighing the immediate cost of repairing aging infrastructure against the long-term cost of holding off.
