2 charged after stolen car crashed into Toronto store

Two people now face multiple charges in a stolen vehicle investigation, after a truck drove into a police horse, three police cruisers and a downtown Toronto storefront Friday afternoon, Toronto police say.
A woman, 30, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Toronto police said in a Saturday news release.
Police say a man, 33, faces the same charges, along with two counts of mischief/damage to property over $5,000, four counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a vehicle, endangering lives or public safety, and injuring a police, military or service animal.
Police said the alleged crimes occured at around 3 p.m. on Friday.
Mounted officers approached a vehicle parked on Queen Street W. near Beverley Street, which they believed was stolen after receiving an alert from an automatic licence plate reader, police said in a Saturday news release.
Police allege the accused then tried to drive off, but struck a police horse and three cruisers before ultimately crashing into a Little Burgundy storefront. One person was arrested at the scene and the other was arrested after a short foot pursuit, police say.
A suspect and police officer were then taken to hospital with minor injuries, police say, and a police horse was taken to an emergency animal hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say both the accused were out on bail at the time of the incident. They say both were due to appear in court Saturday morning.
Police are asking anyone with more information or video of the incident to contact investigators.
