19-year-old arrested in Chennai under POCSO Act after a 15-year-old girl reveals pregnancy following medical examination.
The Washermenpet police on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) arrested a 19-year-old man on charges under the POCSO Act for alleged sexual offence involving a minor. The case came to light after a medical examination revealed that the 15-year-old girl was pregnant.
A senior official from the city police said the accused C. Eshwar, 19, was a resident of Nehru Nagar of Tondiarpet. He had dropped out from school and had been working as a helper at a plumbing unit. He had befriended the 15-year-old girl a few months ago.
The girl’s brother, who got to know of their relationship, assaulted the young man a few days ago. Later, when the girl complained of stomach pain, her mother took her to the RSRM Hospital for treatment, where the doctor informed them that she was pregnant.
Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother, the Washermenpet All Women Police registered a case and arrested Eshwar under sections of the POCSO Act.
