Yankees showing signs of life, squeak past Rays again
NY Post
After a lost weekend in Detroit, the Yankees have shown signs of life back in The Bronx.
For a second straight night, they won a tight game over the AL East-leading Rays, hanging on for a 4-3 victory Wednesday. Aroldis Chapman, who has been dominant all season, walked Taylor Walls and pinch-hitter Mike Zunino to start the ninth. But after a visit from pitching coach Matt Blake, Chapman, with his mechanics admittedly off, recovered to strike out Randy Arozarena and Ji-Man Choi. Choi worked a full count before Chapman finally got him with a slider on the eighth pitch of the at-bat. The Yankees closer then retired Austin Meadows on a comebacker to end it.
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.
