With Diwali round the corner, Delhi Police have started crackdowns on the sale and distribution of illegal firecrackers after the Delhi government banned the sale and bursting of crackers till next year.
The Delhi Police have begun initiating crackdowns on the sale and distribution of illegal firecrackers this festival season despite the fact that a complete ban has been announced, wherein the sale and bursting of all forms of firecrackers will be prohibited in the city till January 1, 2022.
To begin with, more than 470 kg of illegal firecrackers have been recovered by the police from a godown in north Delhi's Sadar Bazar area ahead of Diwali. The owner of the godown was arrested.
