A sprawling winter storm that blanketed the central and southern US with ice and snow left hundreds of thousands in the dark before making its way toward the Northeast, promising more disruption Friday.
More than 95 million Americans were under winter weather warnings or advisories as of Friday morning, and thousands of flights had been canceled.
