Wings India 2026: Focus on enhancing safety, passenger experience and resilience, says Civil Aviation Secretary

Wings India 2026: Focus on enhancing safety, passenger experience and resilience, says Civil Aviation Secretary

The Hindu

The Ministry of Civil Aviation is focussing on enhancing safety, efficiency and passenger experience as well as building capacity in the sector, said a senior official.

Enhancing safety, efficiency and passenger experience will be at the core as India focuses on building capacity in the civil aviation sector, a senior official from the Ministry of Civil Aviation said here on Wednesday.

“We are the third largest domestic aviation market globally, with a strong growth driven by expanding connectivity, sustained reforms and close collaboration between government and industry. Our focus is on building capacity while enhancing safety, efficiency, passenger experience, and resilience, Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha told Wings India 2026.

Noting that India’s civil aviation sector is at a defining moment, he said the government plans to bolster growth of the sector with a focus on expanding air connectivity, sustained reforms and forging close collaboration with industry. The Ministry is committed to a transparent, predictable and growth-oriented policy environment, he said, adding Wings India 2026 is Asia’s largest and most comprehensive civil aviation exhibition and conference.

Over the years, the event has evolved into a flagship global platform for aviation. It is not merely an exhibition, but a convergence of policy, technology, investments, and partnerships where the future of aviation is discussed and shaped, he said as the plane crash earlier in the day in Baramati, Maharashtra, in which that State’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others were killed had a sombre effect on the proceedings.

The Civil Aviation Secretary said Hyderabad, a city that has long stood for innovation, enterprise and importantly, global connectivity, is a fitting venue for Wings India. The city has also emerged as a major aviation aerospace and MRO hub, supported by progressive policies, and strong industry participation, he said.

Exuding confidence over Wings India playing host to meaningful dialogues, strong partnerships and tangible outcomes, Mr.Sinha said innovation and human capital will shape the future of aviation. India is actively embracing new technologies, drones, advanced air mobility and digital systems, while investing in skills and training to support long-term growth. Aviation is inherently global and India’s journey is closely linked with international cooperation, he said.
