Windy conditions expected on Thursday: Met dept

Strong winds are expected in some places during the daytime Thursday, the Qatar Met department has said. The weather office has also said windy conditions and high seas are likely in offshore areas by the afternoon. The wind speed will be less than five knots at first, becoming mainly northwesterly with speeds of 10-20 knots and gusting to 30 knots in some places during the daytime. Offshore, southwesterly-northwesterly winds will blow at 8-18 knots, with the speed increasing to 18-25 knots by the afternoon. The detailed forecast says scattered clouds to partly cloudy conditions are expected at times and there is a chance of scattered rain along with slight dust in some places. Mild conditions will prevail by night.
