• Fritz-Alcaraz: Taylor Fritz is looking to end the funk of American men at Wimbledon by lifting the trophy, but first he has to overcome two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, who comes into the semifinal as a heavy favorite. • Sinner-Djokovic: In a clash of new blood versus old, world no. 1 Jannik Sinner takes on 24-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic in the other semifinal of the day. The big worry for both competitors though is lingering injuries as the Italian and Serbian both have question marks over their health coming into Friday. • American into women’s final: Amanda Anisimova shocked world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a three-set thriller to make her debut grand slam final. In the other semifinal, Iga Świątek breezed past Belinda Bencic to make it to Saturday’s final on Centre Court. Amanda Anisimova and Aryna Sabalenka, two of the biggest hitters on the tour, got the Wimbledon ladies’ semifinals off to a thunderous start on Thursday. Anisimova stunned the world No. 1 in three sets in the first match on Centre Court, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to become the first American woman to reach the Wimbledon final since Serena Williams in 2019. In an incredible display of power and precision – in particular, her crushing backhand – Anisimova pummeled Sabalenka into submission to record her sixth win over the Belarussian, a player she has beaten more than any other on tour.
