A 20-year-old man is dead and a 30-year-old from Manitoulin Island has been charged with first-degree murder following a stabbing near the intersection of Cabot Street and Hearn Avenue in Greater Sudbury's Donovan community Friday evening.

On Feb. 2 shortly before 8 p.m., police and emergency medical personnel responded to a weapons complaint in the residential area.
“A 20-year-old male was taken to Health Sciences North by Emergency Medical Services for treatment of edged weapon injuries,” said the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS), in their initial news release early Saturday morning.
“The victim was later pronounced deceased.”
The GSPS said detectives from its major crimes and criminal investigation divisions began the homicide investigation Friday evening.
The scene at the Cabot Street residence was held overnight by police while detectives obtained a search warrant.
“Our Forensic Identification Unit processed multiple scenes and several witnesses were interviewed,” said police in a news release Saturday afternoon.
