Widespread power outages hit north London Friday

Thousands of London homes in the north end of the city were without power Friday after a collision near Western and Windermere roads.
Traffic was crawling at intersections from Masonville, east to Huron Heights and south to Oxford Street, with police telling drivers to avoid the area.
London Hydro spokesperson Nancy Hutton said at noon that repair crews estimated it would take several hours to restore power.
She said the collision knocked out multiple hydro poles which were connected to feeder lines, explaining the wide-spread nature of the outage.
There are reports from students and employees at Fanshawe College that the Internet is out on campus. King's at Western University has also posted to social media saying the same is true on their campus.
