Why Sarah Palin isn't the clear favorite to win the Alaska special election

Sarah Palin, under most circumstances, would be considered the clear favorite to win the primary and general election in the Alaska special election for the late Rep. Don Young's seat. But Alaska isn't conducting its elections like other states, and Palin isn't like most former governors.
The upcoming US House special election in Alaska is one of those. Former GOP Gov. Sarah Palin is running for the state's at-large seat left vacant by the death of longtime Republican Rep. Don Young, and I have no idea whether she is going to win or not.
To be clear, Palin starts out in an enviable position. The primary and general election are in two months (June) and four months (August) respectively. This leaves little time for most candidates to build name recognition and gives a well-known former governor a leg up on the competition.

A federal judge on Friday blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from enforcing most of his executive order on elections against the vote-by-mail states Washington and Oregon, in the latest blow to Trump’s efforts to require documentary proof of citizenship to vote and to require that all ballots be received by Election Day.

A Border Patrol agent shot two people in Portland, Oregon, during a traffic stop after authorities said they were associated with a Venezuelan gang, another incident in a string of confrontations with federal authorities that have left Americans frustrated with immigration enforcement during the Trump administration.
