Why Darvin Ham is not a Knicks option as search for top assistant lingers
NY Post
LAS VEGAS — The Knicks’ pursuit of an associate head coach remains ongoing and has hit some road blocks.
During this process, they expressed interest in Darvin Ham, the former head coach of the Lakers. But it was communicated to Ham through his current team, the Bucks, that he couldn’t leave for the Knicks because it’d be a lateral move, The Post has learned.
“It’s just the way it’s done,” a person involved with the situation said. “Standard procedure.”
A formal interview request for Ham wasn’t lodged by the Knicks, a source said. However, the Knicks did send requests for James Borrego of the Pelicans and Jay Triano of the Mavericks that were rejected.

Edwin Diaz explained his decision to leave the Mets for the Dodgers. The closer headed west for a three-year, $69 million contract with the two-time defending World Series Champions over the same terms and $3 million fewer with the Mets — who reportedly “had some wiggle room” on their initial offer. But it wasn’t just about the money, the 31-year-old said in his first Los Angeles press conference on Friday.
