White House announces more funding to increase vaccinations in underserved communities

Washington — The Biden administration on Tuesday announced $121 million in grants to over 100 community-based organizations across the U.S. to boost vaccinations in underserved communities. The funding will be going to groups like churches and local first responders to help provide more information to people in rural areas about COVID-19 vaccinations.
The grants will also support African-American, Latino and tribal entities involved with church communities young people and others to help with the vaccine literacy effort and to convince more of those who are not yet vaccinated to get their shots. The funds, provided through the American Rescue Plan, are being distributed by the Health and Human Services Department and Health Resources and Services Administration.Billions of cicadas are emerging across about 16 states in the Southeast and Midwest.
