The U.S. conducted military strikes against Iran starting Feb. 28, which has already proved to be a controversial move for President Donald Trump.
Trump's approval rating has indicated trouble on the horizon for Republicans for the upcoming midterm elections. Several polls over the last few months have suggested many voters think Trump should focus on their top issue: the economy and the cost of living.
Trump and members of his administration have argued Iran posed an imminent threat. They have repeatedly said Iran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon and ballistic missiles capable of striking the United States. However, national security analysts and experts on Iran and its ruling regime told USA TODAY those claims are based on assumptions that are either wrong, or greatly exaggerated.
The operation has already caused some backlash from some big MAGA names, not to mention from Democrats who say Trump should have received Congressional approval.
