Russia-Ukraine war news: The United States has delivered 200 stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine to boost the country’s air defence.
The United States has delivered 200 stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, news reports quoting official sources said. The Stinger surface to air missiles will be a boost for Ukraine's air defence in case Russia goes in for a full-scale air assault with its mighty airforce comprising close to 1,500 fighter aircraft.
However, till now, the Russian Air Force has not swung into action.
The large scale deployment of these missiles will allow the Ukrainian forces to take on air attacks and it will give them a chance to contest the airspace restricting Russia's air superiority.

In an urban warfare scenario like in Ukraine, the Ukrainian forces can use these effectively blinding aircraft as they can be fired from buildings.
The development is significant as this is the first time the US has provided these weapons to Ukraine. The US had earlier given a nod to the Baltic countries-- Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania to send US-made missiles to Ukraine.
Germany has also said it will send 500 of these to Ukraine.
