We need efforts to archive, preserve Lata Mangeshkar's recordings, says Sona Mohapatra

At Aaj Tak's special ode to the Nightingale of India - Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge event, Sona Mohapatra said that we need to make consolidated efforts to restore and preserve Lata Mangeshkar's recordings and her legacy.

Sona Mohapatra was speaking at Aaj Tak's special ode to the Nightingale of India - Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge event. During her session, Sona Mohapatra crooned several of Lata Mangeshkar's iconic songs, particularly Kuhu Kuhu Bole Koyaliya. She also pointed out that we need to make consolidated efforts to restore and preserve Lata Mangeshkar's recordings and her legacy.

Sona spoke about the dire need to ensure that Lata Mangeshkar's recordings and her legacy are preserved. She said, "We need to find a way to preserve her recordings. To preserve and archive her legacy. Some of the songs are so old, the recording is ruined. We should put in a consolidated effort to revive those, restore those and preserve them."

Sona also spoke about today's inclination towards instant gratification and oversimplifying things. She said, "Also, today, people today think songs that have become popular on TikTok, Instagram reels are the best songs. They call TikTok stars singing stars. But that's not the case. That's not how we should remember Lata Mangeshkar and her legacy."
