The water level in Papanasam dam on Monday stood at 79.90 feet (maximum level 143 feet). The dam had an inflow of 332.06 cusecs and 1,004.75 cusecs of water was discharged. The level in Manimuthar dam stood at 87.40 feet (maximum level 118 feet). The dam had an inflow of 138 cusecs and 485 cusecs of water was discharged.
“We are judges and therefore, cannot act like Mughals of a bygone era ... the writ courts in the guise of doing justice cannot transcend the barriers of law,” the High Court of Karnataka observed while setting aside an order of a single judge, who in 2016 had extended the lease of a public premises allotted to a physically challenged person to 20 years contrary to 12-year period stipulated in the law.
