
Water level in Mullaperiyar dam stands at 136.45 feet

Water levels in Mullaperiyar and Vaigai dams in Madurai are below permissible levels, with moderate inflow and discharge.
The water level in Mullaperiyar dam on Tuesday stood at 136.45 feet (permissible level 142 ft.) with an inflow of 283 cusecs and a discharge of 1,000 cusecs. The level in Vaigai dam was 70.01 ft. (maximum level 71 ft.) with an inflow of 882 cusecs and a discharge of 1,469 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 8,977 mcft.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday pledged to mobilise people in resistance against the BJP-led Union government’s “anti-agricultural worker, anti-farmer, anti-worker, anti-people” laws and policies till they are all repealed, the party said on Friday. In a statement issued here, the CPI(M) said the members took the pledge following a three-day meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram.
