Southern China is on high alert as super typhoon Ragasa, with winds up to 230 kmph, threatens to make landfall between Shenzhen and Xuwen. Flights are cancelled, schools shut and emergency alerts triggered as Hong Kong warns of a five-metre storm surge. Ragasa has already caused devastation in the Philippines and injuries in Taiwan, sparking fears of damage on the scale of past deadly typhoons.
