CBC
Cain's Quest — the gruelling 3,400-kilometre snowmobile race across Labrador's wilderness — is set to finish on Friday morning, with familiar faces races towards the line in first place.
Barring disaster, Team 99 — Saga Boys Vikings — appear poised to win its second straight Cain's Quest title, along with the accompanying $100,000 cash prize.
The team, consisting of Randy and Sebastian Malleck of Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation, was alone in front on Friday morning after leaving Churchill Falls for Labrador City at 6 a.m.
It's been a difficult race, with 10 of the 18 teams dropping out before the final leg.
CBC News will be livestreaming as the first team crosses the finish line.
