The elephant was seen rolling from side to side, making an effort to stand up, but failing due to the slippery nature of the surface

Forest personnel rescued an elephant calf that was stuck in slush in the Moleyur range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka. The tiger reserve shared a video of the rescue mission on its official Twitter handle. One female elephant, stuck in the fresh mud puddle in Moleyur range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve, rescued successfully.@ntca_india@ArvindLBJP@aranya_kfd@kudremukh_wild@brt_tiger@DharwadForest@nagaraholetr@moefccpic.twitter.com/U4ZTvFzd1D Moments before this great save the Elephant was battling hard. Alert staff of forest department, Moleyur range of Bandipur did a marvellous job through innovative rescue operations. Congratulations to RFO and his team ???????????????? pic.twitter.com/PiRKWCYmsp God bless you all ????.. my special thanks to the JCB operator who ensured the elephant dint get hurt while being rescued and to the guys who spotted the distressed elephant and sought help ???????? Excellent work. Keep it up. That is man animal cooperation a change from the usual rant of man animal conflict. Excellent - thank you for your compassion ???????? . Any info on whether the elephant calf was reunited with its mother/herd? Sometimes wrong posture coupled with heavy weight in a slushy ground can make an elephant helpless. Thanks to officials and staffs of @Bandipur_TR for timely nudge to the female elephant. She had exhausted. Kudos to all involved in this rescue.VC: BTR pic.twitter.com/Sx2e6tZiTm As one starts to watch the video, initially it would appear as if the elephant is rolling in the mud to beat the heat, as they usually do when they come across waterbodies in forests during summer. However, soon, it becomes evident that the animal is trying to stand up on its feet but is unable to do so because of the slippery nature of the surface. In the process, the calf gets exhausted. That's when the forest personnel intervened and brought in an excavator to help the animal. They pushed the elephant gradually towards the edge of the slush where the ground wasn't as slippery, and helped the animal stand up on its feet.
