Watch: Chelsea vs West Ham thriller ends in ugly brawl as Todibo strangles Joao Pedro
India Today
Chelsea completed a stunning 3–2 comeback against West Ham at Stamford Bridge, but victory was eclipsed by chaos. A stoppage-time brawl ended with Todibo sent off for throttling Joao Pedro, turning a thriller into flashpoint.
Chelsea and West Ham served up one of the Premier League’s most combustible nights this season, a match that had everything from a wild comeback to scenes that spiralled completely out of control. What unfolded at Stamford Bridge on Saturday went far beyond the 3–2 scoreline, ending in an ugly stoppage-time brawl that overshadowed Chelsea’s dramatic victory.
For much of the evening, it looked like West Ham had the contest exactly where they wanted it. The visitors raced into a two-goal lead midway through the first half, catching Chelsea cold and exposing a defence that struggled to cope with direct running and early pressure. Jarrod Bowen’s mishit cross somehow deceived Robert Sanchez and crept in, before Crysencio Summerville doubled the advantage, leaving the home crowd restless and the Blues reeling.
Chelsea’s response, however, was slow but relentless. The momentum shifted after the break as West Ham began to retreat deeper, inviting pressure. Liam Delap’s header pulled one back, Marc Cucurella scrambled in an equaliser, and with time ticking away, Enzo Fernandez struck late to complete a comeback that felt as exhilarating as it was improbable.
But the drama was far from over.
Deep into stoppage time, tempers finally boiled over. What began as a routine tussle escalated rapidly when Adama Traore shoved Cucurella to the ground near the touchline. Joo Pedro reacted, Traore squared up, and within seconds, players from both sides flooded the area. The chaos peaked when West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo lost control entirely, pinning Pedro against the advertising hoardings with both hands around his throat in full view of the Chelsea supporters.
