Wastage, shortages slow down India’s vaccine drive at first shot
India Today
According to available data, at least three lakh (300,000) doses have been wasted so far.
Shortages, wastage, and a resultant drop in the average number of people getting Covid jabs. That’s what sums up the current status of India’s inoculation drive against the pandemic compared to what it was a week ago. Kerala has received 73,38,806 doses of vaccine from GoI. We've provided 74,26,164 doses, even making use of the extra dose available as wastage factor in each vial. Our health workers, especially nurses have been super efficient and deserve our wholehearted appreciation! After touching a peak of 42 lakh (4.2 million) doses administered on a single day on April 2, the vaccination has plummeted to an average 18 lakh (1.8 million) shots a day in the last week. What is more, the pace is unlikely to pick up significantly anytime soon as the planned addition in vaccine production is still some time away.More Related News
