Students and security guards clashed at Allahabad University this evening

Students and security guards clashed at Allahabad University this evening after an argument over entry to the campus spiralled out of control.

Students were seen throwing stones at policemen. A motorcycle was set on fire. Both sides claimed they have got injured people.

The situation is under control now and the police are talking to the students, an officer told reporters.

A student leader, who is part of the months-long protest against fee hike in the university, wanted to go to a bank on the campus. The guard, however, did not let him enter. This led to the argument that sparked the clash and stone-throwing.
