A video of Kanpur BJP councillor Raghavendra Mishra threatening a senior citizen allegedly for not supporting the party in Uttar Pradesh has gone viral on social media.
Soon after it went viral, the video evoked some angry reactions from netizens and several opposition leaders.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the BJP on Twitter, saying that the politics of the Hindutva supporters means hooliganism.
Meanwhile, Kanpur Police investigated the matter and released an official statement.

ACP Swaroop Nagar said they reached out to the old man, identified as Bhupendra Singh Bhadauria, and found that BJP Councillor Raghvendra Mishra and Bhadauria had known each other from before and the "conversation happened in good humour." Somebody recorded and uploaded it on social media.
In the viral video, Mishra is seen pulling the senior citizen by holding his collar. He said, “I will have to make you understand in the language you guys know," to which the old man replied, "Hooliganism is your only language."
