At 8 a.m., police say a driver hit a pedestrian before careening into a building near Seventh Street S.W.
Officials say the pedestrian suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
As of 8:30 a.m., both directions of 17 Avenue are closed at between Fifth and Eighth Street S.W.
"Expect delays and plan alterative routes as the road is expected to be closed for significant period of time to assess the structure of the building that was hit," police said in a statement.
