Vegetable prices soar in Kolkata despite reduction in fuel rates

Vegetable prices are on an upswing across the retail markets of Kolkata, adding to the woes of a common man.
Vegetable prices remained on the higher side across the retail markets of Kolkata on Friday, despite the recent cut in fuel prices. Reportedly, fuel cost reduction has hardly affected the prices of perishable commodities in the city as most of the vegetables are being sold for over Rs 50 a kg.
According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), in Kolkata’s retail markets, coriander leaves are being sold at Rs 200 a kg, green peas at Rs 180 a kg, flat beans at Rs 150 a kg, eggplant at Rs 80 and tomatoes at Rs 80.
