Uttarkashi bus accident: Death toll rises to 26; Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand CMs to reach site

A total of 26 people lost their lives in the Uttarkashi bus accident.
A total of 26 people were killed and four people sustained serious injuries after a bus carrying 28 pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh fell into a gorge near Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarakhand’s Damta on Sunday.
The driver of the bus that was travelling towards Yamunotri, Hari Singh from Pithoragarh, is alive. Autopsies have been conducted for all the deceased.
Police said the vehicle was carrying 30 people, including the driver and operator. The bus had 14 women passengers.
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami are expected to reach the accident site around 8.50 am.
Uttarkhand CM Pushkar Dhami ordered a probe into the accident.
Chouhan, who reached Dehradun a few hours ago, met with the officials of Uttarakhand government in the police control room and took stock of the rescue operations.
