US honors Johnny Gaudreau after first world championship title in 92 years
NY Post
With the celebration on, Team USA remembered Johnny Gaudreau.
The United States topped Switzerland in the world championship Sunday in a 1-0 overtime victory off a goal by Sabres forward Tage Thompson to capture the tournament title.
It’s the first time the US has won the tournament in 92 years.
Thompson’s game-winning goal came two minutes into the overtime period when he put a shot past the blocker of Leonardo Genoni.
Logan Cooley and Brady Skjei were credited with the assists on the game-winning goal.
Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 shots in the win over Switzerland.

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.
